Job Bank: Executive Producer, Chapel Hill

Job description: The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is searching for an outstanding person to join its faculty and launch and manage a platform-neutral center for newsgathering, production and dissemination with an emphasis on innovation and research. This is a fixed-term, renewable contract position.

Duties: Provide year-round, hands-on management and instruction for a student/professional newsroom staff. Work with faculty on projects such as grant proposals and research initiatives associated with the newsroom. Teach one course a semester related to the newsroom.

Qualifications: Successful applicants will be experienced news managers who can display a record of industry innovation. Experience with current digital publishing technologies is a must, and hands-on programming, design and audio/video skills are a plus. Must be able to work in the classroom environment while also providing leadership and vision for the student newsroom. A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
