College News Design Programs

Many colleges and universities offer courses in news design, graphics and new-media design. The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications, or ACEJMC, accredits more than 100 professional journalism and mass communications programs.

One of the 11 core values and competencies that ACEJMC uses to accredit schools is: understand concepts and apply theories in the use and presentation of images and information. See the complete list of ACEJMC accredited institutions in alphabetical order by state.

Among journalism programs, some emphasize visual journalism and new media more than others. A partial list of programs with a demonstrated interest in visual journalism, and the degrees they offer (where available), follows.

If you have additional visual journalism programs to recommend, please contact SND.
